In this analysis we will compare the New Testament of the New American Bible (NAB) ( 1970 edition ) to the King James Bible (KJ). K J V S. N A B N.T. ( 1970 ) Matt. 1:19 KJ: "Then Joseph ... not willing to make her (Mary) a publick example, was minded TO PUT HER AWAY privily." NAB: "Joseph ... decided to DIVORCE HER quietly." COMMENT: Think on this. What a DIFFERENCE! The meaning is far-reaching and a lot is involved. Matt. 1:25 KJ: "And knew her not till she had brought forth her FIRSTBORN son: ..." NAB: "He has no relations with her at any time before she bore a son, whom he named Jesus." Matt. 2:4 KJ: "... he (King Herod) DEMANDED of them where Christ should be born." NAB: "... he inquired of them where the Messiah was to be born." COMMENT: King Herod, furious over the arrival of Jesus, (and wanting to DO AWAY with him) did not 'inquire' where Christ should be born, he DEMANDED to know! Matt. 5:44 KJ: "But I say unto you, Love your enemies, BLESS THEM THAT CURSE YOU, DO GOOD TO THEM THAT HATE YOU, and pray for them which DESPITEFULLY USE YOU, and persecute you;" NAB: "My command to you is: love your enemies, pray for your persecutors." COMMENT: The NAB leaves out everything in capital letters. Matt. 6:13 KJ: "... For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen." NAB: Omitted COMMENT: The NAB omits all this. Matt. 6:27 KJ: "Which of you ... can ADD ONE CUBIT unto his STATURE?" NAB: "Which of you by worrying can add a moment to his life-span? ..." COMMENT: The verse is about HEIGHT (i.e. CUBITS) not time! Matt. 9:13 KJ: "... for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners TO REPENTANCE." NAB: "... I have come to call, not the self- righteous, but sinners." COMMENT: Notice: The last part of the verse in the NAB leaves the reader hanging. That is because scripture is MISSING. Those last two words in the King James ARE CRUCIAL. Hell will get all of the sinners who DON'T repent. JESUS will get all the sinners who DO repent! Matt. 11:23 KJ: "And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted unto heaven, shalt be brought down to HELL: ..." NAB: "As for you, Capernaum, ... you shall go down to the realm of death!" COMMENT: Hell is GONE in this verse in the NAB. Matt. 12:6 KJ: "... That in this place is [ONE] GREATER than the temple." NAB: "... there is something greater than the temple here." Matt. 16:3 KJ: "... O [YE] HYPOCRITES, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not [discern] the signs of the times?" NAB: "... If you know how to interpret the look of the sky, can you not read the signs of the times?" Matt. 16:18 KJ: "... upon this rock I will build my church; and the GATES OF HELL shall not prevail against it." NAB: "... on this rock I will build my church, and the jaws of death shall not prevail against it." COMMENT: Hell is gone, AGAIN, in the NAB. Matt. 18:11 KJ: "For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost." NAB: Omitted Comment: Jesus' ENTIRE PURPOSE for coming to earth, is OMITTED in the NAB. Matt. 19:17 KJ: "... WHY CALLEST THOU ME GOOD? ..." NAB: "... Why do you question me about what is good? ..." Matt. 20:7 KJ: "... Because no man hath hired us. He saith unto them, Go ye also into the vineyard; AND WHATSOEVER IS RIGHT, [THAT] SHALL YE RECEIVE." NAB: "... No one has hired us, they told him. He said, 'You go to the vineyard too.'" COMMENT: The NAB omits about 1/2 the verse! And this omission makes it HARDER to understand the explanation, which follows, in verse 13. Matt. 20:16 KJ: "So the last shall be first, and the first last: FOR MANY BE CALLED, BUT FEW CHOSEN." NAB: "Thus the last shall be first and the first shall be last." COMMENT: The NAB omits: "FOR MANY BE CALLED, BUT FEW CHOSEN." Matt. 20:20 KJ: "Then came to him the mother of Zebedee's children with her sons, WORSHIPPING [him], ..." NAB: "The mother of Zebedee's sons came ... to do him homage ..." COMMENT: She came and WORSHIPPED HIM, as stated in the King James Bible, not a watered down 'homage'. Matt. 21:32 KJ: "For John came unto you IN THE WAY OF RIGHTEOUSNESS, and ye believed him not: but the publicans and the harlots BELIEVED HIM: ..." NAB: "When John came preaching a way of holiness, you put no faith in him; but the tax collectors and the prostitutes did believe in him. ..." COMMENT: John CAME IN THE WAY OF RIGHTEOUSNESS not 'preaching a way of holiness'. Also, the tax collectors and the prostitutes BELIEVED HIM (as correctly stated in the KJ) NOT believed 'in him'. We believe IN JESUS but we BELIEVE JOHN. Think about the differences. Matt. 23:14 KJ: "Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye devour widows' houses, and for a PRETENCE make long prayer: therefore ye shall receive the greater DAMNATION." NAB: Omitted COMMENT: Jesus condemns hypocrisy, yet this warning is not included in the NAB. Matt. 23:33 KJ: "[Ye] serpents, [ye] generation of vipers, how can ye escape the DAMNATION OF HELL?" NAB: "Vipers' nest! Brood of serpents! How can you escape condemnation to Gehenna?" COMMENT: HELL has been DELETED. Dear reader: Be sure that you, and those around you, are SAVED. Matt. 25:13 KJ: "... ye know neither the day nor the hour WHEREIN THE SON OF MAN COMETH." NAB: "... you know not the day or the hour." COMMENT: Who is it that is coming again? That's right: JESUS! But, you wouldn't know it from the NAB. Matt. 27:4 KJ: "... I have sinned in that I have betrayed THE INNOCENT BLOOD. ..." NAB: "... I did wrong to deliver up an innocent man! ..." COMMENT: There are lots of men that are innocent of certain crimes. But, ONLY JESUS CHRIST was "THE" INNOCENT BLOOD. Think about it. Matt. 27:35 KJ: "And they crucified him, and parted his garments, casting lots: THAT IT MIGHT BE FULFILLED WHICH WAS SPOKEN BY THE PROPHET, THEY PARTED MY GARMENTS AMONG THEM, AND UPON MY VESTURE DID THEY CAST LOTS." NAB: "When they had crucified him, they divided his clothes among them by casting lots;" COMMENT: The NAB omits the text documenting this FULFILLMENT OF PROPHECY. Mark 1:15 KJ: "... the KINGDOM of God is at hand: REPENT ye, and believe the gospel." NAB: "... The reign of God is at hand! Reform your lives, and believe in the gospel!" Mark 3:5 KJ: "... his hand was restored WHOLE AS THE OTHER." NAB: "... and his hand was perfectly restored." Mark 3:29 KJ: "But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost ... is in danger of ETERNAL DAMNATION:" NAB: "but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit ... carries the guilt of his sin without end." COMMENT: This verse is an IMPORTANT WARNING but the NAB waters it down. Mark 6:11 KJ: "And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear you, when ye depart thence, shake off the dust under your feet for a testimony against them. VERILY I SAY UNTO YOU, IT SHALL BE MORE TOLERABLE FOR SODOM AND GOMORRHA IN THE DAY OF JUDGMENT, THAN FOR THAT CITY." NAB: "If any place will not receive you or hear you, shake its dust from your feet in testimony against them as you leave." COMMENT: An important WARNING from Jesus, but the NAB leaves out about half of it. Oh, BTW, an amateur archeologist has found the remains of Sodom and Gomorrah. I've seen their DVD and I believe it is real. Their web site is: http://www.wyattmuseum.com/cities-of-the-plain.htm Mark 7:16 KJ: "If any man have ears to hear, let him hear." NAB: "Let everyone heed what he hears." COMMENT: The two verses are NOT the same. Think about it. Mark 9:24 KJ: "... Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief." NAB: "... I do believe! Help my lack of trust!" Mark 9:43 KJ: "... it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into HELL, ..." NAB: "... Better for you to enter life maimed than to keep both and enter Gehenna ..." COMMENT: The NAB has changed "HELL" to 'Gehenna'. Mark 9:44,46 KJ: "Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched." NAB: This verse, in both Mark 9:44 and Mark 9:46 is omitted. Mark 9:45 KJ: "... it is better for thee to enter halt into life, than having two feet to be cast into HELL, ..." NAB: "... Better for you to enter life crippled than to be thrown into Gehenna ..." COMMENT: The NAB has changed "HELL" to 'Gehenna', again. Mark 9:47 KJ: "... it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into HELL FIRE:" NAB: "... Better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye, than to be thrown with both eyes into Gehenna, ..." COMMENT: Third time: The NAB has changed "HELL FIRE" (which is SEVERE) to just 'Gehenna'. Mark 10:21 KJ: "... and come, TAKE UP THE CROSS, and follow me." NAB: "... After that, come and follow me." COMMENT: The Christian TAKES UP THE CROSS (and dies to their will) daily, but the NAB has DELETED this. Mark 10:24 KJ: "... Children, how hard is it FOR THEM THAT TRUST IN RICHES to enter into the kingdom of God!" NAB: "... My sons, how hard it is to enter the kingdom of God!" COMMENT: The problem, as correctly stated in the King James Bible, is: TRUSTING IN RICHES. Mark 11:10 KJ: "Blessed [be] the kingdom of our father David, THAT COMETH IN THE NAME OF THE LORD: HOSANNA IN THE HIGHEST." NAB: "Blessed is the reign of our father David to come! ..." Mark 11:26 KJ: "But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses." NAB: Omitted COMMENT: A HUGE warning, yet Mark 11:26 is omitted in the NAB. Mark 12:40 KJ: "... and for a pretence make long prayers: these shall receive GREATER DAMNATION." NAB: "... and recite long prayers for appearance' sake; it is they who will receive the severest sentence." COMMENT: Here is A HUGE WARNING about hypocrisy; but the NAB waters down "DAMNATION" to only 'sentence'. Mark 13:14 KJ: "But when ye shall see the abomination of desolation, SPOKEN OF BY DANIEL THE PROPHET, ..." NAB: "When you see the abominable and destructive presence standing where it should not ..." COMMENT: This scripture points out the FULFILLMENT OF A PROPHECY, but the NAB omits that section of the text. Mark 13:33 KJ: "Take ye heed, watch AND PRAY: ..." NAB: "Be constantly on the watch! Stay awake! ..." COMMENT: What does the NAB have against PRAYING? Mark 14:22 KJ: "... Take, EAT: this is my body." NAB: "... 'Take this', he said, 'this is my body.'" Mark 15:28 KJ: "And the scripture was fulfilled, which saith, And HE WAS NUMBERED WITH THE TRANSGRESSORS." NAB: Omitted Mark 16:6 KJ: "... Be not AFFRIGHTED: ..." NAB: "... You need not be amazed! ..." COMMENT: Being 'amazed' and being "AFFRIGHTED" are very different. Mark 16:9-20 KJ: (All verses of Mark 16:9-20 are included) NAB: The NAB gives these verses but calls it "the longer ending", as if these verses are optional. COMMENT: In John Burgeon's book, "The Last Twelve Verses of the Gospel of Mark", he has written over 400 pages proving conclusively that this section was in the original manuscripts. Burgeon's book remains unanswered and is unanswerable. Mark 16:15 KJ: "... Go ye into all the world, and PREACH THE GOSPEL ..." NAB: "... Go into the whole world and proclaim the good news to all creation." COMMENT: There are a lot of items in the news that are generic 'good news', but Jesus said SPECIFICALLY to preach THE GOSPEL. Luke 2:22 KJ: "And when the days of HER PURIFICATION ... were accomplished, ..." NAB: "When the day came to purify THEM ..." COMMENT: WHAT? 'Purify them'? The NAB MAKES JESUS A SINNER (by requiring purification FOR HIM). The King James is correct: The purification was FOR MARY, and for her ONLY. Luke 2:33 KJ: "And JOSEPH and his mother marvelled at those things which were spoken of him." NAB: "The child's father and mother were marvelling at what was being said about him." COMMENT: What? GOD WAS THE FATHER OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST -NOT Joseph! Luke 2:43 KJ: "... the child Jesus tarried behind in Jerusalem; and JOSEPH AND HIS MOTHER knew not [of it]." NAB: "... the child Jesus remained behind unknown to his parents." COMMENT: 'HIS PARENTS'? The NAB makes JOSEPH the FATHER of the Lord Jesus Christ! Joseph was NOT Jesus' father; GOD WAS. Luke 2:49 KJ: "... I must be about my Father's BUSINESS ..." NAB: "... I had to be in my Father's house ..." COMMENT: Come on! Don't the "scholars" know the difference between "BUSINESS" and a 'house'? Luke 4:4 KJ: "... man shall not live by bread alone, BUT BY EVERY WORD OF GOD." NAB: "... Not on bread alone shall man live." COMMENT: Other than bread, what else does man need? The NAB doesn't say. Only the King James tells us: We need EVERY WORD OF GOD! Luke 4:8 KJ: "And Jesus answered and said unto him, GET THEE BEHIND ME, SATAN: for it is written, Thou shalt WORSHIP the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou SERVE." NAB: "... Jesus said to him, ... 'You shall do homage to the Lord your God; him only shall you adore.'" COMMENT: The NAB omits "Get thee behind me, Satan. Also, WORSHIP is watered down to 'homage'. And SERVING God is changed to 'adore' (i.e. passive vs. ACTIVE). Three errors in just one verse. Luke 4:18 KJ: "The Spirit of the Lord [is] upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; HE HATH SENT ME TO HEAL THE BROKENHEARTED, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised," NAB: Luke 4:18 omits entirely, "he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted,". Luke 9:55-56 KJ: "But he turned, and rebuked them, AND SAID, YE KNOW NOT WHAT MANNER OF SPIRIT YE ARE OF. FOR THE SON OF MAN IS NOT COME TO DESTROY MEN'S LIVES, BUT TO SAVE [THEM]. And they went to another village." NAB: "He turned toward them only to reprimand them. Then they set off for another town." COMMENT: This casts doubt on the veracity, the authenticity of this passage. Luke 11:2 KJ: "And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, OUR FATHER WHICH ART IN HEAVEN, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. THY WILL BE DONE, AS IN HEAVEN, SO IN EARTH." NAB: "He said to them, 'When you pray, say: Father, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come.'" Luke 11:29 KJ: "... but the sign of Jonas THE PROPHET." NAB: "... except the sign of Jonah." Luke 16:23 KJ: "And in HELL he lift up his eyes, ..." NAB: "From the abode of the dead ... he raised his eyes ..." COMMENT: Hell is DELETED in this verse in the NAB. Luke 17:36 KJ: "Two [men] shall be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left." NAB: Omitted Luke 23:17 KJ: "(For of necessity he must release one unto them at the feast.)" NAB: Luke 23:17 is omitted. COMMENT: Again, this casts doubt on a passage in God's word. Luke 23:23 KJ: "... And the voices of them AND OF THE CHIEF PRIESTS prevailed." NAB: "... and their shouts increased in violence." Luke 23:42 KJ: "And he said unto Jesus, LORD, remember me when thou comest into thy KINGDOM." NAB: "He then said, 'Jesus, remember me when you enter upon your reign.'" COMMENT: There is no explanation for leaving out "LORD" nor is there any reason to change "KINGDOM" to 'reign'. Luke 23:44-45 KJ: "... And the sun was DARKENED, ..." NAB: "... darkness came over the whole land ... with an eclipse of the sun." COMMENT: WHAT? The crucifixion of Jesus occurred at the time of a FULL MOON. Therefore, an eclipse of the sun was IMPOSSIBLE. Luke 24:46 KJ: "... and thus it BEHOVED Christ to suffer, ..." NAB: "... that the Messiah must suffer ..." COMMENT: The NAB misses a HUGE POINT: It BEHOVED Christ to suffer. He did it WILLINGLY." Luke 24:47 KJ: "And that REPENTANCE and remission of sins should be preached in his name ..." NAB: "In his name, penance for the remission of sins is to be preached ..." COMMENT: The NAB mis-translates "REPENTANCE" as 'penance'! And this error has been a HUGE money making item for the Catholic 'church'. They don't dare translate it correctly, now! John 1:3 KJ: "All things were made BY him; ..." NAB: "Through him all things came into being, ..." COMMENT: "BY" and 'through' are totally different. Think about it. John 1:10 KJ: "He was in the world, and the world was made BY him, ..." NAB: "... and through him the world was made, ..." COMMENT: "BY" and 'through' are not the same. John 1:14 KJ: "... (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of THE ONLY BEGOTTEN of the Father,) ..." NAB: "... and we have seen his glory: the glory of an only Son coming from the Father, ..." COMMENT: 'Only Son'? God has MORE THAN ONE SON. Every male that is saved is a SON of God! The King James is right: Jesus was THE ONLY BEGOTTEN of the Father. John 1:42 KJ: "And he brought him to Jesus. And when Jesus beheld him, he said, Thou art Simon the son of Jona: thou shalt be called Cephas, WHICH IS BY INTERPRETATION, A STONE." NAB: "He brought him to Jesus, who looked at him and said, 'You are Simon, son of John; your name shall be Cephas' (which is rendered Peter)." COMMENT: The NAB omits: WHICH IS BY INTERPRETATION, A STONE. This omission is DISASTROUS. Jesus calls Peter "A STONE" to differentiate Peter from Jesus who is THE ROCK (1Co. 10:4). Thus, when Jesus says: upon THIS ROCK (not stone) I will build my Church (Matt. 16:18) Jesus is NOT referring to Peter. And that is one of many errors in Catholic doctrine. John 3:13 KJ: "And NO MAN hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, [even] the Son of man which is in heaven." NAB: "No one has gone up to heaven ..." COMMENT: Not true, NAB. Remember the angels on Jacob's ladder? They ascended and descended. Also, Satan went into heaven and made accusations against Job (Job 1:6). Remember? John 3:15 KJ: "That whosoever believeth in him SHOULD NOT PERISH, but have eternal life." NAB: "that all who believe may have eternal life in him." COMMENT: Not perishing is important, don't you think? John 3:16 KJ: "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only BEGOTTEN Son, ..." NAB: "Yes, God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, ..." COMMENT: Believers in God are called his SONS and daughters. God did NOT give his only son. God has MANY sons. God gave his only BEGOTTEN Son. John 4:24 KJ: "God [is] A Spirit: ..." NAB: "God is Spirit, ..." COMMENT: For the NAB to say: 'God is spirit' is to infer that ALL spirits are God. NOT true. We know there are evil spirits. And we know that, in God there is NO evil. Thus the King James is correct: God is "A" spirit. John 5:4 KJ: "For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had." NAB: John 5:4 is omitted. COMMENT: This injects another doubt as to the authority and accuracy of God's word. Also, the NAB omits a capability (apparently) of an HOLY angel of God. John 5:16 KJ: "And therefore did the Jews persecute Jesus, AND SOUGHT TO SLAY HIM, because he had done these things on the sabbath day." NAB: "It was because Jesus did things ... on the sabbath that they began to persecute him." COMMENT: There is no reason given for omitting this phrase, or for brushing over the fact that the Jews wanted to MURDER Jesus. John 6:33 KJ: "For the bread of God is HE which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world." NAB: "God's bread comes down from heaven and gives life to the world." John 6:47 KJ: "... He that believeth ON ME hath everlasting life." NAB: "... he who believes has eternal life." COMMENT: He that believes WHO, or WHAT? The NAB doesn't say. We must believe ON JESUS CHRIST. John 6:69 KJ: "And we believe and are sure that thou art that CHRIST, THE SON OF THE LIVING GOD." NAB: "We have come to believe; we are convinced that you are God's holy one." COMMENT: What happened to CHRIST? Also, what happened to him being the son of the LIVING GOD? John 8:9 KJ: "And they which heard [it], BEING CONVICTED BY [THEIR OWN] CONSCIENCE, went out one by one, ..." NAB: "Then the audience drifted away one by one, beginning with the elders. ..." COMMENT: No reason is given for omitting this phrase. John 10:30 KJ: "I and [MY] Father are one." NAB: "The Father and I are one." COMMENT: Notice: The King James' "MY Father" is GONE and is replaced by 'the' Father. Thus, the NAB deletes the PERSONAL relationship of "MY FATHER", between Jesus and the heavenly Father. John 11:41 KJ: "Then they took away the stone [FROM THE PLACE] WHERE THE DEAD WAS LAID. ..." NAB: "Then they took away the stone ..." COMMENT: It's NOT a miracle if Lazarus isn't DEAD. John 14:2 KJ: "In my Father's house are MANY MANSIONS: ..." NAB: "In my Father's house there are many dwelling places; ..." COMMENT: If Jesus thinks your work for him was WORTHY, wouldn't you want a "MANSION" instead of just a 'dwelling place'? The NAB waters down one of the POSSIBLE REWARDS from God. John 16:16 KJ: "A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me, BECAUSE I GO TO THE FATHER." NAB: "Within a short time you will lose sight of me, but soon after that you shall see me again." COMMENT: Jesus' prophecy, about himself, is corrupted in the NAB. John 17:5 KJ: "And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self WITH THE GLORY WHICH I HAD WITH THEE BEFORE THE WORLD WAS." NAB: "Do you now, Father, give me glory at your side, a glory I had with you before the world began." COMMENT: The King James is a statement but the NAB is a question. They do not say the same thing. Acts 1:3 KJ: ".. he shewed himself alive after his passion BY MANY INFALLIBLE PROOFS, ..." NAB: "... he showed them in many convincing ways ..." COMMENT: The evidence about Jesus is INFALLIBLE. Acts 2:30 KJ: "... that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, ACCORDING TO THE FLESH, HE WOULD RAISE UP CHRIST to sit on his throne;" NAB: "... God had sworn to him that one of his descendants would sit upon his throne." COMMENT: The NAB totally misses the point. It wasn't just 'a descendant' that would sit on the throne; it was GOD ALMIGHTY (Jesus Christ). Acts 8:37 KJ: "And Philip said, IF THOU BELIEVEST WITH ALL THINE HEART, THOU MAYEST. And he answered and said, I BELIEVE THAT JESUS CHRIST IS THE SON OF GOD." NAB: OMITTED COMMENT: This verse shows THE REQUIREMENT for water baptism; namely: BELIEVING that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. But, both Codex Aleph and B leave this verse out and they are TWO OF THE WORST manuscripts. This is a good example of the spiritual BATTLE that has, and still surrounds, the word of God. Acts 9:5-6 KJ: "And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: [IT IS] HARD FOR THEE TO KICK AGAINST THE PRICKS. AND HE TREMBLING AND ASTONISHED SAID, LORD, WHAT WILT THOU HAVE ME TO DO? And the Lord [said] unto him, Arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou must do." NAB: "'Who are you, sir?' he asked. The voice answered, 'I am Jesus, the one you are persecuting. Get up and go into the city, where you will be told what to do.'" COMMENT: Truly the translators have emasculated these two verses. LORD is changed to only 'sir'. "and the LORD said" is changed to a generic 'the voice answered'. It was THE LORD THAT SPOKE, not just a 'voice answering'! 'A voice' could be ANYBODY. Then, a major section of the scripture is totally left out. Acts 9:20 KJ: "And straightway he preached CHRIST ..." NAB: "and soon began to proclaim ... Jesus ..." COMMENT: CHRIST is missing. Acts 10:37 KJ: "THAT WORD, [I say], ye know, which was PUBLISHED THROUGHOUT ALL JUDAEA, and began from Galilee, after the baptism which John preached;" NAB: "I take it you know what has been reported all over Judea about Jesus of Nazareth, beginning in Galilee with the baptism John preached;" COMMENT: Notice how VAGUE the NAB is. It says: 'I take it you know what has been reported ...' but then doesn't say WHAT WAS REPORTED! The King James tells us: THE WORD WAS PUBLISHED THROUGHOUT ALL JUDAEA. Acts 12:4 KJ: "... after EASTER ..." NAB: "... after the Passover." COMMENT: Herod was a HEATHEN King. He did NOT regard Passover! (NAB) He would have regarded EASTER, though. (KJ) BTW: Easter and Passover are NOT the same. Passover is BIBLICAL. But, do a thorough study about Easter and you will find out it is PAGAN. Acts 15:11 KJ: "But we believe that through the GRACE of the Lord Jesus CHRIST we shall be saved, even as they." NAB: "Our belief is rather that we are saved by favor of the Lord Jesus and so are they." COMMENT: What happened to "GRACE"? 'Favor' is NOT the same. And, what happened to "CHRIST"? Acts 15:34 KJ: "Notwithstanding it pleased Silas to abide there still." NAB: Omitted COMMENT: Numbering verses 32, 33, and then 35 ... is NOT new math. Acts 16:31 KJ: "And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus CHRIST, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house." NAB: "Their answer was, 'Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved, and all your household.'" COMMENT: Again, they omit "CHRIST". Acts 17:22 KJ: "Then Paul stood in the midst of MARS' HILL, and said, [Ye] men of Athens, I perceive that in all things ye are TOO SUPERSTITIOUS." NAB: "Then Paul stood up in the Areopagus and delivered this address: 'Men of Athens, I note that in every respect you are scrupulously religious.'" Comment: Come on! Being 'religious' and "TOO SUPERSTITIOUS" are entirely different! Acts 20:23-24 KJ: "... the Holy Ghost witnesseth ... that bonds and afflictions abide me. BUT NONE OF THESE THINGS MOVE ME, ..." NAB: "... the Holy Spirit has been warning me ... that chains and hardships await me. ..." COMMENT: Note: The Apostle Paul was NOT MOVED by his circumstances and thus was able to preach the Gospel with BOLDNESS! And, we know this NOT from the NAB, but from the King James Bible. May we have the SAME ATTITUDE as the Apostle Paul and may we also PREACH WITH BOLDNESS! Thanks to the King James Bible for insight into this man of God. Acts 21:9 KJ: "And the same man had four daughters, VIRGINS, which did prophesy." NAB: "This man had four UNMARRIED daughters ..." COMMENT: What happened to the blessing of VIRGINITY? 'New versions' like the NAB do not like the topic of virginity. Also, being a VIRGIN and being un-married are VERY different. Acts 23:9 KJ: "... let us not fight against God." NAB: Omitted COMMENT: Some good advice, don't you think? Acts 24:6-7 KJ: "Who also hath gone about to profane the temple: whom we took, and would have judged according to our law. But the chief captain Lysias came [upon us], and with great violence took [him] away out of our hands," NAB: Most of this has been omitted. Acts 24:15 KJ: "... that there shall be a resurrection OF THE DEAD, both of the just and unjust." NAB: "... that there is to be a resurrection of the good and the wicked alike." Acts 28:29 KJ: "And when he had said these words, the Jews departed, and had great reasoning among themselves." NAB: Omitted COMMENT: The VAST MAJORITY of manuscripts have this verse! This is still another doubt cast upon the word of God. Romans 1:16 KJ: "For I am not ashamed of the gospel OF CHRIST: ..." NAB: "I am not ashamed of the gospel. It is the power of God ..." COMMENT: The translators seem to dislike the words "OF CHRIST". Romans 6:18 KJ: "Being then made free from sin, ye became the SERVANTS of righteousness." NAB: "... freed from your sin, you became slaves to justice." COMMENT: Are we 'slaves' or "SERVANTS"? Answer: SERVANTS! Think about the difference. Romans 6:22 KJ: "But now being made free from sin, and become SERVANTS to God, ..." NAB: "But now that you are freed from sin and have become slaves of God, ..." COMMENT: What? 'Slaves of God'? No! No! No! We are "SERVANTS" to God, as properly stated in the King James Bible. Romans 8:1 KJ: "[There is] therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, WHO WALK NOT AFTER THE FLESH, BUT AFTER THE SPIRIT." NAB: "There is no condemnation now for those who are in Christ Jesus." COMMENT: AN IMPORTANT QUALIFICATION is in the second half of this verse, but the NAB omits it. Romans 9:5 KJ: "... CONCERNING THE FLESH Christ [came], who is over all, God blessed for ever. Amen." NAB: "... theirs were the patriarchs, and from them came the Messiah ..." Romans 10:17 KJ: "So then faith [cometh] by hearing, AND HEARING BY THE WORD OF GOD." NAB: "Faith, then, comes through hearing, and what is heard is the word of Christ." Romans 13:9 KJ: "... Thou shalt not bear false witness, ..." NAB: Omitted COMMENT: The Bible says that all liars (false witnesses) go to the lake of fire (Rev. 21:8). So, why leave this out? Romans 14:1 KJ: "Him that is weak in the faith receive ye, [but] not to DOUBTFUL disputations." NAB: "Extend a kind welcome to those who are weak in faith. Do not enter into disputes with them." COMMENT: Notice: The KJ does NOT say we cannot have disputes; only that we should not have DOUBTFUL disputes. What are doubtful disputes? Whether we can 'eat all things' or only 'herbs'(Romans 14:2) or whether we 'esteem every day alike' or 'one day over another' (Romans 14:5). But, in the NAB we would NEVER DISPUTE ANYTHING including KEY DOCTRINE like Paul and Barnabus going up to Jerusalem concerning whether circumcision was necessary for salvation (Acts 15:1-2). The NAB would also come against both Titus 1:9 where we are to use sound doctrine to CONVINCE THE GAINSAYERS and 2Tim. 3:16 where ALL SCRIPTURE is profitable for REPROOF and for CORRECTION. Romans 16:24 KJ: "The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ [be] with you all. Amen." NAB: Omitted COMMENT: The vast majority of manuscripts have this verse. 1Cor. 1:18 KJ: "For the PREACHING of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which ARE SAVED it is the power of God." NAB: "The message of the cross is complete absurdity to those who are headed for ruin, but to us who are experiencing salvation it is the power of God." COMMENT: The NAB waters down "PREACHING" to a generic term 'message'. And, the NAB changes ARE SAVED to 'experiencing salvation'. So, is the NAB suggesting that, later on, we could not 'experience salvation'? 1Cor. 5:4 KJ: "IN THE NAME OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST, when ye are gathered together, and my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus CHRIST," NAB: "United in spirit with you and empowered by our Lord Jesus, ..." COMMENT: IN THE NAME OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST is omitted at the beginning and CHRIST is omitted at the end of the verse. Why do the translators dislike "Christ" so much? Are the translators of these 'new versions' really saved? 1Cor. 5:7 KJ: "... For even Christ our passover is sacrificed FOR US:" NAB: "... Christ our Passover has been sacrificed." COMMENT: If Christ is not sacrificed FOR US we cannot be saved! Those last two words are CRITICAL. 1Cor. 6:20 KJ: "For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, AND IN YOUR SPIRIT, WHICH ARE GOD'S." NAB: "You have been purchased, and at a price. So glorify God in your body." COMMENT: We are to GLORIFY GOD IN OUR SPIRIT, TOO. That section of scripture has been OMITTED in the NAB with no reason given. 1Cor. 7:5 KJ: "... give yourselves to FASTING and prayer; ..." NAB: "... to devote yourselves to prayer. ..." COMMENT: Why does the NAB omit FASTING? 1Cor. 7:39 KJ: "The wife is BOUND BY THE LAW as long as her husband liveth; ..." NAB: "A wife is bound to her husband as long as he lives. ..." 1Cor. 9:1 KJ: "... have I not seen Jesus CHRIST our Lord? ..." NAB: "... Have I not seen Jesus our Lord? ..." COMMENT: No reason is given for omitting "CHRIST". 1Cor. 11:24 KJ: "And when he had given thanks, he brake [it], and said, TAKE, EAT: this is my body, WHICH IS BROKEN FOR YOU: ..." NAB: "and after he had given thanks, broke it and said, 'This is my body, which is for you. Do this in remembrance of me.'" COMMENT: The NAB misses a HUGE point: Christ's body was BROKEN for us. Also, what are we to do with the bread/wafer? We are to EAT it (KJ). 1Cor. 11:29 KJ: "For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh DAMNATION TO HIMSELF, ..." NAB: "He who eats and drinks without recognizing the body eats and drinks a judgment on himself." COMMENT: The person that eats and drinks unworthily brings more than just a 'judgment' on themselves. They bring "DAMNATION" upon themselves. The NAB waters down God's WARNING. 1Cor. 15:2 KJ: "By which also ye ARE SAVED, ..." NAB: "You are being saved by it ..." COMMENT: We "ARE SAVED" ... not in a process of 'being saved'. Huge theological ERROR in the NAB. 1Cor. 16:23 KJ: "The GRACE of our Lord Jesus CHRIST [be] with you." NAB: "The favor of the Lord Jesus be with you." COMMENT: Why do they keep insisting on eliminating the name "CHRIST"? And, why do they keep watering down scripture, like changing "GRACE" to 'favor'? 2Cor. 2:15 KJ: "For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them THAT ARE SAVED, ..." NAB: "We are an aroma of Christ ... among those who are BEING SAVED ..." COMMENT: What? The NAB is teaching salvation is a PROCESS, again. No! It is an IMMEDIATE EVENT. 2Cor. 2:17 KJ: "For we are not as many, which CORRUPT the word of God: ..." NAB: "We at least are not like so many who trade on the word of God." COMMENT: Come on! 'Trading on the word of God' and CORRUPTING IT are VERY different. 'New versions' try and hide from the truth they are CORRUPTING the word of God. 2Cor. 5:17 KJ: "... old THINGS are passed away; behold, all things are become new." NAB: "... The old order has passed away; now all is new!" COMMENT: If the 'old order' has passed away, is the NAB hinting at a NEW WORLD ORDER? 2Cor. 10:4 KJ: "(For the weapons of our warfare [are] not carnal, BUT MIGHTY THROUGH GOD to the pulling down of strong holds;)" NAB: "The weapons of our warfare are not merely human. They possess God's power for the destruction of strongholds." COMMENT: Our weapons do not just 'possess God's power', they are MIGHTY THROUGH GOD. 2Cor. 11:31 KJ: "The God and Father of our Lord Jesus CHRIST, ..." NAB: "The God and Father of the Lord Jesus ..." COMMENT: We ask in all sincerity, "Are the translators anxious to get rid of CHRIST altogether?" Gal. 2:20 KJ: "I AM crucified with Christ: ..." NAB: "I have been crucified with Christ, ..." COMMENT: The NAB is saying their crucifixion is over! NOT TRUE. The believers crucifixion is an ongoing, PRESENT TENSE, transaction. Gal. 6:17 KJ: "... for I bear in my body the marks of the LORD Jesus." NAB: "... for I bear the brand marks of Jesus in my body." COMMENT: For some reason the NAB translators don't seem to like the name "LORD" either. Eph. 3:14 KJ: "For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST," NAB: "That is why I kneel before the Father ..." COMMENT: Which Father is the NAB talking about? Satan is a father. The KJ says he is the "father of lies". Only the King James says which Father it is: It is the Father "OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST". Eph. 5:1 KJ: "Be ye therefore FOLLOWERS of God, ..." NAB: "Be imitators of God ..." Comment: The NAB documents Satan's position EXACTLY. Only Satan tries to imitate God as Satan wants to be worshipped AS God. Isa. 14:14 quotes Satan as saying: "... I will BE LIKE the most high". Born again believers cannot imitate God. We can't run the universe! We can only FOLLOW God. Remember Jesus DID NOT tell his "fishers of men" to imitate him. Jesus said: "Follow me ..." (Matt. 4:19). Eph. 5:9 KJ: "(For the FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT [is] in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)" NAB: "Light produces every kind of goodness and justice and truth." COMMENT: What is this 'light' the NAB is referring to? Satan himself can be transformed into an "angel of LIGHT" (2Co. 11:14). Also, aren't 'light' and "FRUIT" different? Eph. 5:30 KJ: "For we are MEMBERS of his body, OF HIS FLESH, AND OF HIS BONES." NAB: "... for we are members of his body." Philip. 2:6 KJ: "Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery TO BE EQUAL WITH GOD:" NAB: "Though he was in the form of God, he did not deem equality with God something to be grasped at." COMMENT: Those two verses are DIFFERENT. Philip. 2:12 KJ: "... WORK OUT your own salvation with fear and trembling." NAB: "... WORK with anxious concern TO ACHIEVE YOUR SALVATION, ..." COMMENT: WHAT? The NAB says that it is Jesus plus WORK = salvation. NOT TRUE. It is Jesus plus NOTHING, minus NOTHING. The KJ teaches that once we are saved we must "WORK OUT" our salvation. This is like going to the gym to "work out" i.e. to exercise our muscles. Likewise, we are to "work out" i.e. exercise our salvation. Col. 1:14 KJ: "In whom we have redemption THROUGH HIS BLOOD, [even] the forgiveness of sins:" NAB: "Through him we have redemption, the forgiveness of our sins." COMMENT: The NAB omits "through his blood". Why omit the blood? This omission can be traced, as usual, to the manuscripts classed as "Neutral Texts" by Westcott and Hort. These are in agreement with the Vatican and Sinaitic manuscripts, two of the WORST manuscripts. Remember: Without the shedding of blood there is NO remission (Heb. 9:22). Col. 1:16 KJ: "For BY HIM were all things created, ..." NAB: "In him everything ... was created, ..." COMMENT: "BY HIM" and 'in him' are NOT the same. Col. 2:2 KJ: "... to the acknowledgement of the mystery OF GOD, AND OF THE FATHER, AND OF CHRIST;" NAB: "... by their knowledge of the mystery of God -namely Christ-" COMMENT: God the FATHER is omitted. Col. 2:9 KJ: "For IN HIM DWELLETH ALL THE FULNESS OF THE GODHEAD BODILY." NAB: "In Christ the fullness of deity resides in bodily form." COMMENT: Notice carefully: The NAB makes God SEPARATE from Christ. Only the King James makes Christ God, as Christ is part of the Godhead. Col. 2:11 KJ: "... in putting off the body of THE SINS of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:" NAB: "... which strips off the carnal body completely." Col. 3:6 KJ: "For which things' sake the wrath of God COMETH ON THE CHILDREN OF DISOBEDIENCE:" NAB: "These are the sins which provoke God's wrath." 1Thes. 2:19 KJ: "For what [is] our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? [Are] not even ye IN THE PRESENCE OF our Lord Jesus Christ at his coming?" NAB: "Who, after all, if not you, will be our hope or joy, or the crown we exult in, before our Lord Jesus Christ at his coming?" 1Thes. 3:11 KJ: "Now God himself and our Father, and our Lord Jesus CHRIST, direct our way unto you." NAB: "May God himself, who is our Father, and our Lord Jesus make our path to you a straight one!" 1Tim. 1:1 KJ: "... and LORD Jesus Christ, [which is] our hope;" NAB: "... and Christ Jesus our hope, ..." 1Tim. 1:17 KJ: "... the only WISE God, [be] honour and glory ..." NAB: "... the only God, be honor and glory ..." 1Tim. 3:16 KJ: "... GOD WAS MANIFEST IN THE FLESH, ..." NAB: "... He was manifested in the flesh ..." COMMENT: Who is 'he'? The NAB doesn't say. 'He' could be anybody Only the King James says: "GOD was manifest in the flesh,". 1Tim. 5:21 KJ: "I charge [thee] before God, and the LORD Jesus Christ, ..." NAB: "I charge you before God, Christ Jesus, ..." 1Tim. 6:1 KJ: "... that the name of God and [HIS] DOCTRINE be not BLASPHEMED." NAB: "... otherwise the name of God and the church's teaching suffer abuse." COMMENT: The doctrine we preach is HIS (i.e. God's). It is not 'our church's teaching' as the NAB states. Also, there is a difference in suffering abuse and BLASPHEMY. 1Tim. 6:5 KJ: "... from men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that GAIN IS GODLINESS: FROM SUCH WITHDRAW THYSELF." NAB: "... men with twisted minds who have lost all sense of truth. Such men value RELIGION only AS A MEANS of personal GAIN." COMMENT: In the NAB the phrase: "FROM SUCH WITHDRAW THYSELF" is omitted. Also, the King James Bible warns against men who suppose GAIN IS GODLINESS. The NAB warns against men who think RELIGION IS GAIN. Notice: The NAB is exactly BACKWARDS. 1Tim. 6:19 KJ: "... that they may lay hold on ETERNAL LIFE." NAB: "... for receiving that life which is life indeed." COMMENT: What life is 'life indeed'? The NAB doesn't say, but the King James does: It is "ETERNAL LIFE"! 1Tim. 6:20 KJ: "... oppositions of SCIENCE falsely so called:" NAB: "... contradictions of what is falsely called knowledge." COMMENT: It's NOT 'knowledge' that sometimes attacks the gospel, it's "SCIENCE" falsely so called. For example: The theory of evolution, which, BTW, has been proven wrong at some good creationist web sites, like: http://www.drdino.com http://www.answersingenesis.org http://www.icr.org 2Tim 1:7 KJ: "For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a SOUND MIND." NAB: "The Spirit God has given us is no cowardly spirit, but rather one that makes us strong, loving, and wise." COMMENT: God has given us a SOUND MIND (KJ). But, it is GONE in the NAB. 2Tim. 1:11 KJ: "... and a teacher OF THE GENTILES." NAB: "... and teacher, ..." COMMENT: The TARGET AUDIENCE for the Apostle Paul's ministry has been DELETED in the NAB. 2Tim. 2:15 KJ: "STUDY to shew thyself approved unto God, ..." NAB: "Try hard to make yourself worthy of God's approval, ..." COMMENT: We are supposed to STUDY the word of God. 2Tim. 2:25 KJ: "... instructing those that OPPOSE THEMSELVES; ..." NAB: "... correcting those who CONTRADICT HIM, ..." COMMENT: The NAB is exactly backwards. 2Tim. 3:3 KJ: "... despisers of THOSE THAT ARE GOOD," NAB: "... hating the good." COMMENT: Quite a difference in the meaning of those two phrases. 2Tim. 4:1 KJ: "I charge [thee] therefore before God, and the LORD Jesus Christ, ..." NAB: "In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, ..." Titus 1:4 KJ: "... from God the Father and THE LORD Jesus Christ our Saviour." NAB: "... from God our Father, and Christ Jesus our Savior, ..." Philemon 6 KJ: "... thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which IS IN YOU IN Christ JESUS." NAB: "... your sharing of the faith with others may enable you to know all the good which is ours in Christ." COMMENT: The NAB says that what we have is ONLY 'in Christ'. And, the NAB leaves out JESUS. The King James says that what we have IS IN US IN CHRIST JESUS. Think about the difference. Hebrews 1:3 KJ: (Jesus) "Who BEING THE BRIGHTNESS OF [his] glory, and the express image of his person, ... when he had BY HIMSELF purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;" NAB: "This Son is the reflection of the Father's glory, ... When he had cleansed us from our sins, he took his seat at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven," COMMENT: "BEING THE BRIGHTNESS OF" and 'reflecting it' are two VASTLY different situations. Also, Jesus purged our sins "BY HIMSELF". Hebrews 2:11 KJ: "For both he that SANCTIFIETH and they who are SANCTIFIED [are] all of one: ..." NAB: "He who consecrates and those who are consecrated have one and the same father. ..." COMMENT: SANCTIFICATION and consecration are NOT the same. Hebrews 3:1 KJ: "Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of THE heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, CHRIST Jesus;" NAB: "Therefore, holy brothers who share a heavenly calling, fix your eyes on Jesus, the apostle and high priest whom we acknowledge in faith," COMMENT: CHRIST is left out and "THE" heavenly calling is changed to just 'a' heavenly calling. Hebrews 10:30 KJ: "For we know him that hath said, Vengeance [belongeth] unto me, I will recompense, SAITH THE LORD. ..." NAB: "We know who said, 'Vengeance is mine, I will repay,' ..." COMMENT: The NAB is vague. It says that 'we know who said' but then the NAB DOESN'T SAY! Only the King James tells us: It was "THE LORD". Hebrews 11:6 KJ: "... he is a rewarder of them that DILIGENTLY seek him." NAB: "... he rewards those who seek him." COMMENT: We must DILIGENTLY seek him. Heb. 11:7 KJ: "... Noah, ... moved with FEAR, prepared an ark ..." NAB: "... Noah, ... revered God ... prepared an ark ..." COMMENT: Noah's "FEAR" of God is watered down to just reverence. Oh, BTW, an amateur archeologist has found the remains of Noah's ark. I've seen their DVD and I believe it is real. Their web site is: http://www.wyattmuseum.com/noahsark.htm There are people today that are looking for the ark on Mount Ararat. But, check your King James Bible. In Genesis 8:4 it says "the ark rested in the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, upon the MOUNTAINS (PLURAL) of Ararat". The amateur archeologist found the remains of Noah's ark 12 miles from Mt. Ararat within the MOUNTAINS of Ararat. The discovered ark is 1 inch off, that's right 1 inch off, from 300 cubits (Gen. 6:15) in length. Hebrews 12:2 KJ: "Looking unto Jesus the AUTHOR and FINISHER of [our] faith; ..." NAB: "... let us keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, who inspires and perfects our faith. ..." COMMENT: The Lord Jesus is the beginning and the end. He is also the beginning (AUTHOR) and the end (FINISHER) concerning our faith (as stated in the King James Bible). 1Peter 1:22 KJ: "Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth THROUGH THE SPIRIT ..." NAB: "By obedience to the truth you have purified yourselves ..." COMMENT: What happened to God's HOLY SPIRIT? Notice: The King James gives God's Holy Spirit the glory. The NAB credits man. 1Peter 2:2 KJ: "... desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may GROW THEREBY:" NAB: "Be as eager for milk as newborn babes- pure milk of the spirit to make you GROW UNTO SALVATION, ..." COMMENT: WHAT? Read this very carefully. You see, a person must be living in order to grow. And a person who is Spiritually alive already has salvation. Also, the NAB says we need to GROW UNTO SALVATION. Folks: That is salvation by works. 1Peter 3:15 KJ: "But sanctify the Lord GOD in your hearts: ..." NAB: "Venerate the Lord, that is, Christ, in your hearts. ..." COMMENT: Is this ANOTHER attempt to do away with the DEITY of our Lord? 1Peter 4:1 KJ: "Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered FOR US in the flesh, ..." NAB: "Christ suffered in the flesh; ..." COMMENT: Christ suffered FOR US. Those last two words are important, don't you think? 1Peter 4:14 KJ: "If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy [are ye]; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: ON THEIR PART HE IS EVIL SPOKEN OF, BUT ON YOUR PART HE IS GLORIFIED." NAB: "Happy are you when you are insulted for the name of Christ, for then God's Spirit in its glory has come to rest on you." COMMENT: The NAB leaves out the GLORY GOD DESERVES. 1Peter 5:11 KJ: "To him [be] GLORY and dominion for ever and ever. Amen." NAB: "Dominion be his throughout the ages! Amen." 2Peter 2:17 KJ: "... to whom the mist of darkness is reserved FOR EVER." NAB: "... The darkest gloom has been reserved for them." COMMENT: FOR EVER is a long time. Yet, that part of the WARNING has been DELETED in the NAB. 1John 1:7 KJ: "... and the blood of Jesus CHRIST his Son cleanseth us from all sin." NAB: "... and the blood of his Son Jesus cleanses us from all sin." COMMENT: 'Jesus' could be ANYBODY named Jesus. And the blood of ANYBODY named Jesus does NOT cleanse us from ALL SIN. Only the blood of the ONE AND ONLY Jesus CHRIST cleanses from ALL SIN! 1John 2:20 KJ: "But ye have AN UNCTION from the Holy One, and ye know all things." NAB: "But you have the anointing that comes from the Holy One, so that all knowledge is yours." COMMENT: Is "UNCTION" the same as 'anointing'? 1John 3:16 KJ: "Hereby perceive we the LOVE [OF GOD], ..." NAB: "The way we came to understand love ..." COMMENT: What happened to giving GOD the glory for HIS LOVE? 1John 4:3 KJ: "And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: ..." NAB: "... while every spirit that fails to acknowledge him does not belong to God. ..." COMMENT: Not true NAB! Remember, EVIL SPIRITS DID CONFESS/ACKNOWLEDGE JESUS. In Luke 4:34 (and in Mark 1:24) a man having a "spirit of an unclean devil" said to Jesus: "... Let [us] alone; what have we to do with thee, [THOU] JESUS OF NAZARETH? art thou come to destroy us? I KNOW THEE who thou art; THE HOLY ONE OF GOD". 'New versions', like the NAB, corrupt the test for the anti-christ/test for evil spirits. What evil spirits CANNOT SAY is that: "JESUS CHRIST IS COME IN THE FLESH." (KJ) 1John 4:19 KJ: "We love HIM, because he first loved us." NAB: "We, for our part, love because he first loved us." COMMENT: The NAB missed the topic, totally. "We love HIM, because he first loved us". 1John 5:6-7 KJ: "This is he that came BY water and blood, [even] Jesus Christ; not BY water only, but BY water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth. 7 For there are three THAT BEAR RECORD IN HEAVEN, THE FATHER, THE WORD, AND THE HOLY GHOST: AND THESE THREE ARE ONE. NAB: "Jesus Christ it is who was came through water and blood -- not in water only, but in water and in blood. It is the Spirit who testifies to this, and the Spirit is truth. 7 Thus there are three that testify," COMMENT: What three testify? Notice how verse 7 seems to leave the reader hanging. It is because a large portion of verse 7 is MISSING. Also, notice: In the NAB verse seven ends with a comma. But verse 7 in the King James ends with a period. Lastly, Jesus came BY water and BY blood not THROUGH water and blood and NOT IN water and IN blood. 1John 5:8 KJ: "AND THERE ARE THREE THAT BEAR WITNESS IN EARTH, the spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree IN ONE." NAB: "the Spirit and the water and the blood-and these three are of one accord." 2John 1:3 KJ: "Grace be with you, mercy, [and] peace, from God the Father, and from THE LORD Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and love." NAB: "... grace, mercy, and peace from God the Father and from Jesus Christ, the Father's Son." Rev. 1:9 KJ: "I John, ... was in the isle that is called Patmos, ... for the TESTIMONY OF Jesus Christ." NAB: "I, John, ... found myself on the island called Patmos because I proclaimed God's word and bore witness to Jesus." COMMENT: The NAB TOTALLY MISSES GOD'S PURPOSE for John being on Patmos. It wasn't because John had proclaimed God's word and had borne witness to Jesus (NAB); it was to be A VESSEL used by God to GIVE US the TESTIMONY OF Jesus Christ (KJ). Rev. 1:11 KJ: "Saying, I AM ALPHA AND OMEGA, THE FIRST AND THE LAST: and, What thou seest, write in a book, ..." NAB: "which said, 'Write on a scroll what you now see ...'" COMMENT: Jesus, as the "ALPHA AND OMEGA, THE FIRST AND THE LAST", is omitted. Rev. 5:14 KJ: "... And the four [and] twenty elders fell down and worshipped HIM THAT LIVETH FOR EVER AND EVER." NAB: "... and the elders fell down and worshiped." COMMENT: Worshipped WHO? John? Sam? Sally? The devil? Who? The NAB doesn't say. But, in the King James it is CLEAR: We worship him that "LIVETH FOR EVER AND EVER"! Rev. 6:17 KJ: "For the great day of HIS WRATH is come; and who shall be able to stand?" NAB: "The great day of their vengeance has come. Who can withstand it?" COMMENT: There is quite a difference between 'their vengeance' and "HIS WRATH"! Rev. 8:13 KJ: "... and heard AN ANGEL flying ... saying with a loud voice ..." NAB: "... I heard an eagle flying ... cry out in a loud voice, ..." COMMENT: How could the translators mis-translate ANGEL as eagle? And, how is it that eagles TALK? Rev. 11:17 KJ: "... We give thee thanks, O Lord God Almighty, which art, and wast, AND ART TO COME; ..." NAB: "... We praise you, the Lord God Almighty who is and who was. ..." COMMENT: WHO IS IT that is COMING AGAIN? That's right: JESUS! But, the NAB OMITS IT. Rev. 12:12 KJ: "... Woe to THE INHABITERS OF the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, ..." NAB: "... But woe to you, earth and sea, for the devil has come down upon you! ..." COMMENT: There is a BIG DIFFERENCE in woe coming to the 'earth and sea' vs. to the "INHABITERS OF" the earth and sea. Rev. 15:3 KJ: "... thou King OF SAINTS." NAB: "... O King of the nations!" COMMENT: There is a BIG difference. Think about it. Rev. 16:7 KJ: "And I heard ANOTHER OUT OF THE ALTAR SAY, ..." NAB: "Then I heard the altar cry out: ..." COMMENT: Whoever heard of an altar TALKING? Rev. 20:9 KJ: "... and fire came down FROM GOD out of heaven, ..." NAB: "... but fire came down from heaven ..." COMMENT: The point is: It was GOD that judged. Rev. 21:24 KJ: "And the nations of them WHICH ARE SAVED shall walk in the light of it: ..." NAB: "The nations shall walk by its light; ..." COMMENT: There is a difference between just plain 'nations' verses "THE NATIONS ... WHICH ARE SAVED". Rev. 22:14 KJ: "Blessed [are] they THAT DO HIS COMMANDMENTS, ..." NAB: "Happy are they who wash their robes ..." COMMENT: What? 'Wash their robes'? Are those two verses the same? Brothers and sisters: If you want TO BE BLESSED, then BE SURE TO DO HIS (Jesus') COMMANDMENTS! Amen? AMEN!
